Dino Wipe Guide

Purpose

A Dino Wipe refreshes all wild dinosaur spawns on the server and should only be performed when necessary. Because this action can affect active players and may cause temporary lag, it should be completed with proper communication and consideration for the community.

Authorized Staff

The Pixel Equalizer is the primary staff member responsible for performing all Dino Wipes.

If a Pixel Equalizer is unavailable or offline, a Dino Wipe may be performed by:

Pixel Manager

Admin

When to Perform a Dino Wipe

Dino Wipe should only be performed under the following circumstances:

Other situations approved by an Admin.

• Wild dinosaur overspawning.

• In-game bugs affecting wild creature spawns.

• Preset or automatic Dino Wipes not functioning correctly.

• Game or server updates requiring fresh wild spawns.

• Seasonal events (such as Summer Bash) to allow event-colored creatures to begin spawning.

Dino Wipe Procedure

1. Check With Players

Before performing a Dino Wipe, send an in-game broadcast asking:

  • Is anyone currently taming a creature?
  • Is anyone participating in a mission or event?

This allows players to notify staff if they need additional time.

2. Wait for Responses

Allow at least 10 minutes for players to respond in in-game chat.

Review any responses before proceeding.

3. Issue a 15-Minute Warning

If there are no conflicts, broadcast:

“A Dino Wipe will be performed in approximately 15 minutes. Please prepare for a brief period of possible server lag.”

4. Be Flexible When Possible

Because Dino Wipes are performed manually, staff may delay the wipe for a reasonable amount of time if:

  • A player has just logged in.
  • Someone is finishing a mission.
  • A player is completing an important tame.
  • Another reasonable request is made.

Use staff discretion while keeping the server’s needs in mind.

5. Issue a 5-Minute Warning

Broadcast:

“Reminder: A Dino Wipe will be performed in 5 minutes. Please be aware that temporary lag may occur while the wipe is being completed.”

6. Perform the Dino Wipe

Immediately before performing the wipe, send one final in-game announcement informing players that the Dino Wipe is beginning and that temporary lag is expected.

Once the announcement has been sent:

Confirm that wild creatures begin respawning normally.

Perform the Dino Wipe.

Monitor the server for stability.

Staff Expectations

• Communicate clearly with players before every Dino Wipe.

• Allow reasonable time for player responses whenever possible.

• Use good judgment when delaying a manually scheduled wipe.

• Perform Dino Wipes only when they are necessary.

• Monitor the server after the wipe to ensure wild spawns return to normal and any related issues have been resolved.
